Vibe Coding vs. Technical Debt: Scaling Agentic AI Without Breaking Your Stack

This SF Ben article addresses a topic we are navigating through the “AI Momentum 2026” initiative at VFP.

As a Product Manager, I see "Vibe Coding" and Agentic AI as a massive opportunity, but only if we don't let it become a "Technical Debt Factory."

Building on Bedrock, Not Sand:

The SF Ben piece highlights a looming reality for 2026: AI doesn't just solve problems; it can scale them. As we roll out AI solutions across VFP Consulting and within Campfire, our Implementation Lifecycle Management tool, we have to ensure we aren’t just "moving faster" toward a cliff of unmanageable metadata and fragmented data.

From a Product Management lens, here is how we are staying ahead of the "Vibe Coding" trap:

1. Data Quality is the "Price of Admission."

Paul Battisson is right: AI is only as good as your data's connectivity. At VFP, we aren’t just "doing AI." We are using Certinia and Salesforce as our unified data layer. By ensuring our financial and project data are structured correctly now, we are building the "clean engine" that AI agents need to actually be useful.

2. Guarding Against "Vibe-Coding" Shortcuts

The accessibility of AI-generated code and configuration is a double-edged sword.  Our focus is on governance. We use our Campfire methodology to ensure every AI-assisted build adheres to our stage gates and documentation standards. We don't "cut corners" just because an LLM can write a flow in seconds; we still require all the validation and testing to be done before any metadata moves from one environment to another.

3. AI as a Debt-Cleaner, Not a Debt-Creator

We are using AI to audit our legacy work. Instead of just adding "new debt on top of old," we are exploring tools to help us identify redundant processes and "ghost" metadata. The goal is to use AI to simplify our environments, making them lighter and more agile.

4. The "Human-in-the-Loop" as a Safety Valve

Gabie Caballero’s warning about "blowing up in their faces" is why VFP insists on a Human-in-the-Loop approach. We aren’t using AI to replace the strategic thinking of our senior consultants. We use AI to handle the manual lifting so our experts can focus on the architectural integrity that prevents tech debt in the first place.

At VFP, our AI Momentum 2026 initiative is about “sustainable velocity”. We want to move fast, but we refuse to break the systems our clients rely on. By prioritizing ethics, security, and clean data today, we ensure that "Deployment Day" remains a win, not a "damage control" day.
